hi.
wow! ich
and flukes, huh?
yes, yes and yes. it is very possible to treat for ich and flukes at the same time. however, are you sure that flukes and ich are both in the mix?
ich and flukes are BOTH treatable (ich moreso) with the following:
malchite green/formalin meds (rid ich, ich cure, quick cure, etc)
acriflavin meds
salt dips
there are more but these are the (most suggested) core ingredients in most treatments for ich and some other protazoans.
if your wanting to use jungles tank buddies "parasite clear", that may be a good choice for flukes (not sure about ich). heres a little list of whats in it:
Directions: Wait 48 hours between treatments. Remove activated carbon. Change 25% of the water before each new treatment. For anchor worms, repeat treatment up to three times, once a week, for three weeks. For fish lice, treat once a week for three to five weeks. DO NOT OVERDOSE.
Active ingredients: praziquantel; N-[[(N-Chlorophenyl)amino]carbon 1]-2,6-difluorobenzamide; metronidazole; acriflavine.i cant really tell if it works on ich very well because ive never used it myself. maybe someone else knows. i can only tell you what ive had luck with.
check out some of the other flukes threads here in the diagnosis forum. try using the search option. in doing so, youll get way more info than what i could tell you in such a short post.
but, my suggestion is to get a med such as maracide or rid ich+ or quick cure. dose very strictly, turn the light off and cover the tank with a towel or something, increase aeration if possible. you should treat until you havent seen ANY (at all) ich for at least 4-5 days. this treatment will also knock down quite a few flukes in the process. later on, after the ich is anhialated, you can concentrate on the flukes (if they are indeed there).
so, are you positive that youve got flukes in there too?
post back soon.
