!!!!!!!!!


I was in Petsmart today and I see a sticker on the shelf that says crowtnail male bettas $3.79. I couldn't believe it! I looked at my husband and said if these are crowntails, I'm getting one! Found 2 that look great, no signs of finrot anywhere (now if I can keep them that way! ) Hubby said go on, get'em. I told him this ment 2 more 2.5 minibows in the very near future, he just looked at me.

So I now have them each in a 1 gal tank. I hate these things, it's what I had my other boys in before they went into their current kingdoms. Only this time around, I know a bit more and can hopefully keep the dreaded rot at bay. Along with the other nasties. :angry:

They've even eaten already! A few frozen bloodworms and a couple frozen brine shrimp. I didn't want to overdo it.

One is very active, the other I think may be a bit stressed. He's kind of mopeing, hopefully he perks up in a few days.

I'm working on pics. I borrowed my neighbor's digital, so she's gonna download them and email them to me. Now I need to figure out how to post pics on the board!

HEEHEEHEE!! One boy is blueish with red and slate blue on his fins. Gorgeous, long flowing finnage! He's my favorite (shh, don't tell the others!), and what a 'tude he has on him! For such a little guy too, he can't be more than a few months old!

The other has a pinkish body to just a touch of blueish at the base of his tail, then 1/2 his fins are reddish with the ends being white. He's got like a piebald (?) face and much shorter fins. Maybe they haven't grown yet, I don't know. He looks very young too. He's not as blod as the other one. Hasn't eaten much, which doesn't worry me, he's still settling in.

My neighbor hasn't emailed the pics I took yet, but when she does I'll get them up!

Wow, that is awesome!

It's very rare that I find a betta in good condition at Petsmart. In fact, 30% of them are either dead, or dead and rotting. I've heard nnnnnn has the same problem, but I've never taken a look at their fish.

There is a local petshop, Animal House, which has crowntails and other bettas in excellent condition. That is where I've picked up most of my bettas. But sometimes, I can't help myself, when I find a betta with advanced finrot.

Anyhoo, that was an awesome find for you. And good luck with your lil' somber guy.

Yeah Mandi, I had to get them. I don't know if they'll ever have them again, so I couldn't leave without at least one!

Well tonight I got a new tank for one of the new comers!:teehee It was like x-mas tonight! Actually, my husband picked it out to my surprise! It's an Aquabrite 5 gal. He liked it more than the 2.5 minibow. I really like the minibows myself, but this one's cool cause it has a flourescent light instead of incandescent. First though I had was oooo, I can have real plants! I didn't like the filter though, so I used the one off my other minibow that I just changed. So I set it up, put him in and he's exploring his new mansion! I put some clear marbles on the bottom, a couple small clay pots for hiding and I got some plant bulbs. I don't think I'm ready to deal with hitch hikers from plants at Petsmart, so I just got the bulbs from nnnnnn. Lilys and another that I can't pronounce, Aponogeton. Hopefully they grow!

Next week, I'll hopefully be getting the other one a tank. *fingers crossed*
