Is it safe to keep a betta in a 4 gallon hex tank?
Devs
Hi, a 4 gal. hex is fine! wink.gif
PearlscaleFan
thats great! I was asking because I calculated setting up a betta hex ( Including food conditioner the fish etc.) is only going to cost me £67.08 ( Thats 91 pence less than the price of an 11 Gallon tropical tank!)

4 gallons, while big for a betta, is still a small-ish tank. I don't know much about white clouds, but aren't they a schooling fish? As such you would need enough room to accomidate for a whole school. I don't know, I could be wrong. As I said earlier I don't much much about white clouds. I would definately do some independant research on them and really try to decide from there if they would be able to live happily ever after in a tank of that size.

On the other hand, you will have a very happy betta! I keep my two in 2 gallon hexes. One has been in it all her life and I recently moved my one boy betta from a 1 gallon to a 2 gallon and he was in fishie heaven! He was swimming all over the place and exploring and -gasp- flaring! I had never seen this boy flare EVER and there he was flaring away at me, at his reflection, and at his food! You are going to have one very happy lil' betta!

Went to my LFS ysterday. The bettas were in about 30-40 gall tanks. They had 4 of them in different tanks. One was bright red, 2 of them were pink with white on the end of there fins, and there was one that realy caught my eye. It was dark purple and its colour got lighter towards the end of its body , all the bettas were healthy swimming around but the kept on resting and didnt flare. But this one was cool. It was in a tank with 60 small harlequin rasboras the rest were with cardinals and huge catfish thingys and golden nuget thingeys. As I was sayin. that purple betta was flaring at me, swiming happily with the harlequins and it only rested once in a tunnel thingy. it spent some time tringing to kill the living everything out of this snail but if failed and left the snail alone. Ill find pics of fish that look like him. Oh yeah i forgot to mention, if you want a good tankmate for your betta try harlequin rasboras. smile.gif

I have one more q, Is that filter allright?, its a tube that goes in the water and the filter compartment is in the hood. Will the betta get injured if it swims near the intake of the tube? (You can see the filter in the picture smile.gif ) http://www.seapets.co.uk/product-details/stkcode/230022.html

i saw about 70 silver hatchet fish with one of the bettas ohmy.gif
I thought some of them were dead even the betta had its mouth at the surface but then I remembered that bettas needed air from the amosphere
