smile.gif Anything bigger then a 1 gallon id get a 3 to 5 gallon.
Nope they don't need a filter but you will need to clean the tank.
You don't need a heater if your house is warm enough.
Ummm i really can't think at the moment....
heres a good site :

Well.. I only have a 1 gallon bowl. But my Cassy seems to be pretty happy. The stuff I got was:

-Bowl (of course)
-"Betta Gravel" (label said it was for bettas. But I believe any gravel as long as they are cultured gravel is fine.)
-Water plant (from what I read, ppl recommend Java moss also known as Betta bulbs)
-Water testing kit (ph kit, nitrate kit, etc..)
-Water treating stuff (Aquarium salt, Aquarisol, and if you're planning to use tap water you have to get other things to control the ph level and all the other fun stuff~)
-Food (I bought bettamin and freeze dried bloodworms but Cassy only eats the bloodworms. I think he's just spoiled. lol Also, if you plan to get dried food like the bloodworms, I read it's better to get the freeze dried food because it has less chance for the fish to get parasites)
-Soft fish net (I got the brine fish net because it seems softer then the others)

I read so much on bettas, I started taking notes. hahaha... I might make another trip to the store to get some meds just in case Cassy gets sick. Which I really hope he won't ever! (wishfull thinking) But other then the stuff I just listed, Cassy seems to be pretty happy and healthy in his home. He also makes alot of bubble nests. I was suprised he makes so much. Anyway, I hope this helps a little. Let us know about your knew friend!

Ok...so they dont need an airstone? I have a one gallon bowl. I already have a water test kit...(is it the same one i use for my goldies?) Should i put a little filter in this small of a bowl, or not? How expensive would it be for a filter? Thanks for the help!

No they don't need an airstone.. the water test kit is the exact same for goldies ( so no problem there lol).. i think you could get a filter.. a really small one though ( probably 10 dollars or less or if u live in canada like 20 dollars loool!!..ya i live in canada:P)

i would suggest just 100% cleanups everyweek.... its easier then trying to get the gallon bowl to cylcle...

with my 2.5 gallon.. i would do a 50% clean up on wednesday and another 50% cleanup on Sunday... never had a problem too:) ( i have no filter in there by the way)

Personaly i don't recomend a bowl really because the surface area
isn't large enough for a betta (IMO)
You could get a small Plastic tank for 5 to 10 $ and you could
have much more space for the betta..
If your going to get a filter make sur that the Current isn't to strong... wink.gif

put the betta in a tub or bowl, (make sure the bowl/tub you put it in has never been washed with soap of sprayed with pesticide or any other chemical) with the amount of water your going to change
Before you take the betta out of the tank measure how much water you are going to change and then put the water that you were going to change in the tub/bowl then put the betta in there as well. Say if you took out 200Litres ( just an example smile.gif ) of water to put in the tub/bowl with your betta then get a measuring jug and put 200Litres of water in that. Then treat that water in the measuring jug with any water conditioner/dechlorinator (the ones that aremade for fish) Now leave the water for about 8 hrs and in the morning put the water in the jug into your tank/bowl. Then you can put your betta back.
