Hi

I am buying a Male Betta this week. newfish.gif I have a 5 gallon tank set up with a gentle flowing bio filter. I live in a hard water area 7.5-8 ph and have a heater in the tank.

I would like some mates for him. In one LFS they had the Betta with some Neon Tetras but in another LFS the owner said they were not compatible with bettas. e suggested Mollies amongst others.

I quite fancy male guppies but one LFS said the male Betta may mistake they for other male Bettas on account of their fins.

As advice from KOKOs forums is much more reliable that from any LFS- Can anyone make suggestions on types and numbers of fish I can have.

Thanks

Hi,

I have a male betta in my tropical tank, with all that is listed in my signture (my tank is about 100 liters). i have hear guppies are not a good idea, due to tails. Any peaceful, short finned fish should be fine!?!

gudluksn.gif and congrats on newfish.gif

My tank: Golden sucking loach, Neon Tetra, Glowlight Tetra, Black Neon Tetra, Peppered Corydoras, Zebra Danios, Betta (male), Silver SailFin Mollies.

I have white clouds in with my male betta. They seem to be able to withstand large variations in temperature, since I also have them in one of my unheated goldfish tanks smile.gif

In the past I have had no problems with Neon's and Bettas, and so far in this tank I havent again. But others may know better. But in my experience I havent had a problem with Neon's and Beta's.....I also had a tank with Neon's, Male Beta and a couple of Guromies (spelling?) with no problems....

So GOOD LUCK with you tank!! Hope all goes well!!!! gudluksn.gif
