22 so far, 21 of which I've saved. There may have been a lot more, but I was asleep when she was birthing! I think she still may be in labor, so I'm glued to the tank today!

I'll post more later!

I knew I should have taken photos of her last night! I thought, my she looks really boxy. But it'll be a few days because my other one was boxy for days, and Gee JUST turned boxy yesterday! rolleyes.gif

So, here we go! I've managed to save 21 (these are the little buggers begging for death by zipping around at the top of the tank above mama). I know there are still a few more hiding in the plants at the bottom. The setup worked well for saving the babies! My first drop from my first female had no plants to hide in, so all I have now of them are four fry.

She hasn't had any since I've been up, but I do not think she is done. Maybe she'll have another batch in a week or two like my other fish did.

Here's a photo!

There are a few candidates in this batch that might possibly have the doubletail, but they are so small it's hard to confirm.

biggrin.gif Congrats!!! Yup i say that she looks like she will be giveing
acouple more in acouple weeks,Sometimes they get stressed out
and they wait awhile before giveing out the rest of the fry.
Good luck!, i've never had that many fry the most i've got was 10 to 15 but now i only have 7 about and there getting color now, orange and a very flashy blue.

Thank you! Actually, I think the brine shrimp diet had a lot to do with the larger drop. I've been told it can do that. I really do think she ate at least 10 babies... the two that I had seen in the tank that I could not get out have dissapeared, which I think mama had another meal. But that really is the circle of life. I got the vibrant and healthy guys that could swim themselves up to the surface.

Congrats on your fry!! Well, you know... I didn't expect to have bigger drops. I have over 50 guppies now. blink.gif And it took all of 2 months to get that many. Aiee!

All those little white dots aren't dust, they're baby brine shrimp! Just so happened I had started a new hatch mix a day and a half ago, so I had very fresh (still wiggling) baby brine shrimp to feed the fry. And I had a small tank of aged water ready to go too. Go me. :monkey

What amazing pictures, Bubbles!! Those babies look so healthy!! What camera are you using?
BubblesOwner
I'd hope they'd be healthy. biggrin.gif Mommy has been on a vitamin enriched whole brine shrimp and brine shrimp gel diet (with a bit of spirulina flake on the side). druel.gif

I'm using the Canon Digital Rebel (300D). smile.gif Thank you! biggrin.gif

smile.gif i use to feed eggs to my guppies hard boiled eggs,
i would take out the yellow part and make it into a paste and feed it
to them... it would cloud the water alittle... it helped with color. And they grew faster.

I started feeding my baby guppies 6 times a day as my breeder friend suggested - baby brine shrimp, spirliana flakes, egg, and flakes. Some of the ones from my first drop who are only 4 weeks old are already over a half inch big! Some are lots smaller, too. There is an amazing amount of difference between the fish in one drop.

The new batch that happened while I was out of town is amazingly numerous. The first one gave me about 18+ - many of which died in the breeder's box. I have about 12 or so of them. I have over 30 of the new little guys.

Unfortuanately, the red male that splilt his tail died. He was growing a new tail and looking great when I left, but when I got back his fins stuck together and he died. Yesterday the red female's tail stuck together and she died. I do not understand - the others in the tank are very healthy. sad.gif

Well I have dozens of babies and fish. When do they start to show their colors? Some of the first drop have dark fins and bodies in places, but no red or blue like their Daddy and Mommy. I want to keep a tank of males for show and give the rest to the fish store.......

BO, I tried the egg yolk paste but it over-clouded my water and spoiled it too quickly. but it is a good food source for 'em! I just didn't want to be cleaning my tanks *that* frequantly... I already clean them every other day.

daryl, with my one that is showing her color, it started showing up at around 3 or 4 weeks. But it does vary depending on healthy, temperature, feeding ect.

A lot of mine are different sizes too. And I noticed that some from this new batch have a golden cast to their body, while others have a blue cast. So these are definitely the babies of the Japanese Neon Blues! I thought they had managed to mate with her before they died off on me. sad.gif At least I got a little rainbow after the storm (in the form of 21 new fry).

I'm up to 50+ guppies right now. blink.gif I think I may stick an ad in the local paper for the non-doubletail babies. I really should be making room for these guys since they are the main focus of my project.

Wow! Those are some fantastic photos. I have a macro mode on my digi-camera which should allow me to get that close, but I've not worked out how to use it properly yet.

Best of luck with the babies!
