I didn't see my bettas poop for a long time after I had them either. Are you sure he's constipated? When you clean the tank are there little things that look kinda like betta bites? Or little pebbles? If so, that's the poop. If not, is he acting normal, looking normal? Is he "swollen"? You could try peas, though my boys wouldn't touch them, some bettas will eat them. And it's said that it helps with constipation.
As for your other betta who died, constipation can lead to other problems and infections. So I guess it's possible for that to be the cause.
Post back and let us know what he's doing, how he's acting. It'll help us help you!

When my betta was constipated (I didn't see any poop on the bottom of tank for awhile) , I just gave him a pea to eat and then didn't feed him for the next 2 days until I saw him poop again. Inside the skin of the pea, there are two little pieces. I just make the pieces smaller with my fingernails and feed them to the betta.

I'm just trying to say that he might not be constipated. If his belly (right behind his gills)doesn't look distended or big in any way, if he eats normally and acts normally...
Give the peas a try, it couldn't hurt. Frozen peas, cooked, and taken out of the shell. Cut it or mush it up into betta size pieces. They'll sink, so try to put them on the end of a rounded toothpick, or something, to get his attention at the surface so he'll take it. Like I said my boys didn't want anything to do with them, but maybe you'll get lucky. Some people say that frozen daphnia will help also. For those, you might need to get an eye dropper, they are really tiny!
What type of tank do you have him in?

He could've been. And it could've led to an internal infection and dropsy. No way of knowing now, but it's possible.
Do you soak dry food, especailly pellets, in some tank water before feeding? They swell alot! Just keep in mind, his stomach is only as big as his eye. So what ever you feed, do it little by little. Over feeding can lead to constipation. Give him just enough to see his belly get kinda rounded but not huge.
It's good for them to have a varied diet. So that sounds good. Maybe give him a day or 2 to fast, without a feeding. See what happens, how much he poops... If he still doesn't poop, try a pea. And then wait another day, and so on. I fast my boys one day a week, gives them a chance to clean themselves out I think.
Good luck, hope all turns out ok!

I feed my boys 4-6 pellets 2x a day. Just enough to see their belly start to buldge a bit. Though they are still begging for food like they're starving! And they look really cute when they do that

, be a "good mom" cause that's plenty. And if their belly still looks kinda full at night, I wait till morning to feed them again.
I don't soak the food anymore, but do it for like 5-10 minutes. You'll be surprised how much it swells. That's why I said to keep in mind that their stomach is only about as big as their eye.

4 to 6 pellets 2x a day thats not to much for 1 betta?

I'm just saying what I do. And like I said, if they still look full in the evening, I wait till the next morning to feed them again. That way they only get fed once that particular day. And the same in the morning, if they still look full, I wait a while before I feed them. It all depends on how they look. By mid-day, if they still look full, I only feed them that evening. So it does vary a bit from day to day. BUT, I know my boys poop regularly. I'm taking poop out of their tanks every couple days or so between weekly water changes. I use a turkey baster to do this.
If you really think your betta is constipated, fast him for a day or 2. Give him a pea. Wheather he takes or not, fast him for another day. If he poops, it should be green. If you want, do it again. Give him another pea and wait a day. Then you should be able to go back to your normal routine.

I have one betta with this problem & he gets mostly freeze dried blood worms with occasional betta bites. Otherwise he really has a problem . I've also noticed he does better when his tank is warmer.
