Hey, just wondering if any 1 could help me.
I have recently got sum new fish, and my marble mollie is looking a bit off.
he/she is not eating very much ( about half of what the guppies eat) and he's not very active.
he sits at the bottom of the tank all day, occasionally lifting a fin, and the rest of the fish are much more active.
i dont know how much they are supposed to eat, but compared to what the others eat, hes virtually eating nothing.
Please help. unsure.gif

mollies can be very fickle when it comes to their environment. as your tank is new it may be more sensitive to the fact your tank may still not be cycled.
mollies are naturally a semi brackish fish and though most are bred and kept in freshwater some may need salt in the water to live properly. can you ask at your lfs if your fishes tank had any salt in it.
apart from that i dont know what could be wrong. maybe if you get test kits and an ammonia kit and do some testing and post back with those results plus as much as you can fill in from the diseases section red box then someone may be able to help further. smile.gif

I agree, mollies are definitely very delicate fish. Like Sandy said they do need salt in their environments. In fact Ive seen them thrive in a saltwater reef tank (after being slowly acclimated). Theres a fascinating article in this months Aquarium Fish Magazine all about mollies and their special care. Its definitely worth reading.

You do need to test your water to see whats wrong. Also how slowly did you acclimate your molly and how did you do it? I acclimate sensitive fish (like cardinal tetras) over a couple hours.
