he spends all day just lying at the bottom of his tank or draped over the heater...i don't know what to do! he will eat, and i keep his tank nice for him (3 gals, UG filter, weekly water changes) but he has no energy. is he just old? i've had him about a year or so, and he looks pretty full grown. it just seems like he's on his way out cry3.gif

hi alex
can you tell us what temperature the tank is set at. do you have any test kits to test the water. thanks
alex
temperature is 78-80 depending on the weather (the sun heats it up a bit as well as the heater) and the water params are all good - ammonia zero, nitrite zero, nitrates less than 25, pH 7.4

don't understand it really! i'm doing a water change this afternoon as planned, so i'll see if that perks him up any...

I'm so totally new at this. But I thought you're suppose to keep the water temp at 65-75? Well, that what I read anyway. Please correct me if I'm wrong cuz I'm going to get a betta this week and I'm a total newbie!
alex
i've heard everything from 65 to 85, and my betta has always been happy at this slightly higher temperature *shrug* smile.gif

ice man looks really sick today sad.gif after a water change yesterday he didn't look any happier, and when i got up this morning he won't move from the bottom of the tank unless i literally poke him (i did this once because i couldn't see gill movement and thought he was dead...) and refuses to eat. he hasn't eaten for nearly a week now.

any ideas??

Do you think he could be really constipated???

There was a rash of members losing their bettas due to constipation.

Any other symptoms?????

I'm totally stumped! All I can offer is a big...
