I have, what has become, a fairly good size Dojo Loach. He is a pig who eats a lot and fast..more than the GF!!!

But lately when he eats, his tail starts to float up. He swims around for a bit...then goes back to eat...and can't keep his tail down. Stays like this for awhile after he eats.

Maybe he is constibated? Or worse? Or nothing at all?

THANKS!

I would think it's nothing at all. I have 4 dojos, and they all act funny and "unlevel" in different ways at once. although, i think that the tail-up pattern is kinda normal. they expend so much force downwards when theyre eating that their tails surely tend to want to point upwards. especially when theyre rooting through the gravel. wink.gif

But to make sure, I would fast the tank he's in for a day and then feed everybody a good meal of peas.

he could very well have gas. ive seen one of my dojos fart before! rofl3.gif although, ive never seen him have any sort of floating problems.

since they arent succeptable to floating problems, i would worry too much about it.

wanna talk about wierd? i came home one day to find my youngest dojo laying on his back all stiff looking! i thought for sure he was a goner and when i reached in to fish him out, he swam off like nothing was wrong! i just stood there in disbelief shaking my head......... rolleyes.gif

I know this is kinda odd sounding, but my dojos... well.... expel air...To put it delicately. fart.gif They love to smack at the surface at intervals, and ingest air. So..... maybe when they are eating they get a little imbalanced. Ah yes, I love my dojos. wub.gif
