I am searching through all of the topics and I notice that people feed their fish a variety of foods. Ive fed Melody zucchini before, she plays with it.Just curious what other things can I feed her besides flakes to keep her stress down and health up!
Thanks!

Welcome!
In my experience, it is best to feed a variety of foods. I don't feed flakes though. Goldfish do better on food that sinks, so I feed pellets that have been soaked in tank water for about five minutes. If you are going to feed flakes, make sure you soak them very well first. Too much air in food can cause swim bladder disease, which is not fun!
I feed soaked pellets in the morning and then I feed again at night. The night feeding varies from a veggie: fresh spinach, washed frozen and then thawed; lightly boiled squash, sheets of seaweed sold for saltwater fish, fruit, including orange, melon, grapes (peeled) to frozen food: bloodworms, brine shrimp, frozen veggie cubes to freeze-dried: bloodworms, tubifex worms to gel food: brine shrimp or blood worms and the occasional algae wafer.
Yeah, I keep a LOT of different food in the house!
Also, once a week I fast the fish for 24 hours and then feed frozen peas, defrosted and skinned.
My fish seem to do very well on this, they are healthy and grow very fast. There colors are nice and bright also.
