Well, having determined to give my gf a proper varied diet, I decided to get another staple food, as an alternative to their usual flakes. I normally try and give them a 'different' food every couple of days, but it's good to have some simple stuff for when i haven't got time to boil veggies or crumble brine shrimp cubes.

The stuff I bought was Hikari staple baby pellets- anybody know whether these are any good??

The pellets are tiny, but I thought they would be better than flakes, plus some of the gf are kinda small. I dropped some in, and they ignored it for a while, then when i looked later it was gone. Should I be soaking them before- would that make it more tasty for the fish (as well as avoiding sbd)? and if so, what's the best way to do it?

Ok, 1 more question, then i'll desist- are prawns (shrimp) ok for gf, if chopped to the right size pieces? I tried it, and they seemed to love it!

Hi,
I think the Hikari line of goldfish food is one of the best. I have used the food you purchased and also the Sinking Lionhead Food. My fish had good health, good color, and as a bonus- their poops didn't seem to break up in the water as much as other foods which meant cleaner water and easier cleanups.
(Sorry to be talking about poops. rolleyes.gif )
Good luck.
