So is there such a thing as too many water changes?

I have been doing 20% water changes every day for about a month, just because it's easy with a python, and the fish seem to enjoy it!

I must say they are growing leaps and bounds (I have 2 shubunkins, two sarasa comets and one common in a 55 gallon). Even with the water changes, I have to be careful not to overfeed. They are such pigs!!

Wow... lucky fishes! smile.gif

You can come to my house. *grin*

The only issue I can think of is making sure the water is dechlorinated. What water conditioner are you using and how do you dose it when you change water with your python? Prime says to dose for the volume of the entire tank if you're putting tap water directly into the tank.

I'll have to probably say 20% everyday isn't too much. There is too much (90%+?) but 20% everyday is fine. Too bad you couldn't come over to change my water since you like it so much! rofl3.gif

You must also spend a small fortune on water conditioners!

If you get tired, you can do it every other day instead. what is the growth rate of your fish? Mine grew about an inch in the last 3 months

my water conditioner is Aquasafe, they recommend 1 tsp per 10 gallons removed. I've been using it since I got the tank, with no prob.

In the past month, all the fish have grown about an inch, but my little common(a one inch feeder I bought to cycle the tank) is now 3 inches after 2 months rockwoot.gif

And anyone that wants to pay my airfair, I'll be happy to fly in and do your water changes for you rofl3.gif

bath.gif discus breeders change water daily any where from 10 to 50 percent. :goldfish i use prime by seachem. i do a weekly water change of 80 percent. i add the prime to the tank then add water. i have been doing it this way for 15 years or more. i do it this way because of the large volume of water. in my hospital tank i add the prime to a pail of water because the tank is only 10 gallons :goldfish

2 inches in 2 months has got to be a record, my fish do grow all right but like 4 inches a year, should they be growing faster than this?

My fancies are growing around 3/4 inch a month.
