Hi everyone! I'm new here and I must say that I'm impressed by the breadth and depth of your community. There's a lot to be learned here and I'm excited to be a part of it. It's also nice to see that there is no shortage of people who just as crazy about their goldfish babies as I am!
As it is, I currently have aquestion regarding corys that I hope someone will have an answer to: Are cory cats a high-waste fish? In other words, how much can I expect a cory to affect ammonia levels in my tank? I have a small (10 gal) but very stable tank with one fancy goldie and two corys right now. All fish are relatively small. I certainly expect the corys to grow to full adult size (3-4"), but Myrna (the GF) I've had for over three years now and I'd put her at just barely 2" -- I suspect she may have been permanantly stunted as a result of my inexperience in the first year (1 gal bowl -- it's a miracle she lived at all). Corys prefer to live in groups of four or more - and the larger of the two does have some neurotic tendencies - but I'm concerned that adding two more could push the ammonia levels beyond the tank's cycling capacity. Does anyone have any experience/information on this?
Thanks!
Kris
