i have had two orandas in my tank for a while and i wanted some fish to clean the bottom (scavenge) my lfs said an albino cory, small red tail shark and two dwarf frogs would be fine. My orandas are 3 inches and 3.5 inches with plenty of new room. is my lfs right or just trying to make a quick buck?

<_< depends on the size of your tank. but i would have thought corys would be too small and could easily be eaten. red tail sharks grow to about 4 inches maybe more, the frogs sound better.

Be careful with the red tailed sharks, mine is veeery aggressive. He killed one of my goldies when he was in their tank!

ADFs (African Dwarf Frogs) are a little bit more tropical and can easily get attacked or eaten by a goldie. They also have very poor eyesight and chances are any goldie would be able to get to the frog food long before the frog found it. I have 1 frog and I love her very much; they aren't the most intelligent beings in the world though and are very slow when it comes to figuring out what's food and what's not. Combine that with poor eyesight and greedy goldies and you have a starving amphibian on your hands.

I agree with what everyone has already said here. First off, corys are schooling fish and should never be kept alone. They should be in groups of at least 3-6 of their own kind. Also, they and the sharks are tropical and have completely different requirements than goldfish–different water temp, type and different foods. They really are not compatible at all.

Keep tropical fish with tropicals, and goldfish with goldfish. The two are not meant to be mixed.
