What kind of earthworms do you guys use to feed your goldies? Do you go out in the yard a dig and dig until you find some or do you go to a place that sells fish bait and get nightcrawlers for them?

Just wondering.

Digging them up is fine IF there are no pesticides in use in your yard.

I set up a red worm composter. Got the red worms at a pet store. Got a large rubbermaind container and drilled air holes in it. Shredded a bunch of paper, soaked it, squeezed it out and mixed in some garden soil. Now all I have to do is mist it occasionally to keep it moist, put in the trimmings from fresh veggies to feed the redworms and they make more red worms and compost for the plants.

I dig mine up in the garden -- I don't use any pesticides or anthing, so they're okay for the fish. Can worms like nightcrawlers sold for fishermen be fed to goldies? Or do they have pesticides and stuff like that in them?
