We had a power outage for a week, so I changed 50 percent of the water in my 50 gallon tank when we got our electric back. I also changed the filters. I have four gold fish and a pleco in my tank. Now the water in the tank has turned green. What is the cause of this and how do I correct this problem? The water that I used was from a culligan water dispenser at our local nooppee.

Don't ya worry. Its just algea. It will help you while yo still don't have power. Algea is a water plant and as you know, plants produce oxygen. This will help aerate your tank.

sounds like an algae bloom. try doing a 30% water change, keep the filter running, and keep the tank out of any sunlight. If that doesn't work, they make some drops called 'algae fix' it works really well.

A diatom works great too to get nice clear water, in only a few minutes.
