Hi all - I'm new to this place, but I have been searching and am glad I found a place where I can post my question! I have a male betta, named Blue who about 3 weeks ago?? got this funny white bump right on the top side of his body, right before his tail. It has gotten a little bit bigger, but he doesn't seem to be sick. ?? I change the water every week, he is still eating, active, flaring, and pooping. I don't know what it is, I looked on other sites and he doesn't seem to have ick ( I don't think) or fin rot, so what could it be? I have had him for awhile, at least 2 years I think. I don't know what this white bump is?? Any imput/suggestions is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, Jen

Are you able to take a picture of it?

Jen,

First off, congrats on having a betta that long.

IMO, the white bump could be just a "pimple" that bettas, usually older bettas, occasionally get. I would keep an eye on it in case it gets infected though, and have a medication on hand just in case. An antibacteria, such as Jungle's Fungus Clear or Jungle's Fungus Eliminator is a good broad spectrum antibacteria drug to have on hand.

Keep him in warm and pristine water, and it should clear up on its own. Keep us up to date!

Unfortunatly I don't have a scanner, so I cannot take a picture of him, but thanks for your replies. I'm going to get that antibacterial stuff, and keep it on hand to use in case he gets any worse....thanks.
