I bought one on impulse last night, my husband thought it was cool. I've done alot of reading, but any other insights or advice are welcome!
I know they get big, are not really suited for community tanks, and good jumpers! I found that out when I was trying fish him out of the bag to go into the tank ( I was a little freaked out, but it's a frog they jump ). I think I've seeled the tank off pretty well for any escape attemps.
Thanks in advance, Erin

P.S Not really sure where to post this, no froggie forums here unsure.gif

I was planing on getting one... but i can't <_< good luck and i recomend
you to keep this guy in a 10 gallon alone.

Thanks for the reply and help, BO. A little more scientific than I actually wanted to get though lol.GIF . He is in a 10 gal with just a snail. He's really cute... in an ugly sort of way. I love to watch him eat, he uses his "hands" almost human like. I love it! My husband though I was crazy to be on here talking about fish but then he found this little guy, and he thinks it's totally cool! But now I think, how am I going to clean the tank with out him getting out?! I have to think up a stragety for this. Also, I never found a clear answer as to how much and how often to feed. I know they like frozen blood worms, and at Petco they were fed an amphibian pellet that they were currently out of last night. Other than that? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks again, Erin

Oh, and does anyone know if I can still put liquid calcium in the tank for my snail? I haven't put any in for fear of harming Frog (my daughter named him).
Black oranda
Im not sure about the calcium doesn't it bring your PH higher? and that could maby harm the frog ... so you could change you snails from tanks and do that i guess smile.gif.

Ya i know there so cute... but there ugly... it's hard to explain... Umm like you said these guys are huge jumpers how big is your frog now?
abby'smom
I have my new snail in with one of my bettas and I've added the calcium for 2 days with no rise in the Ph, yet. It's a 5 gal minibow, I add 1 drop. I'll take the other snail out to do it, to be on the safe side, for Frog's sake.
I got the smallest one they had, his body is about an inch long and his legs add about another inch. They had ones that were 3 times his size, those were the ones my hubby wanted. They were a little intimidating, boom.gif so I opted for the runt! Since I know I'll be the one doing all the cleaning of the tank (little does he know, he'll be assisting!) LOL!

Aw, those little guys (along with tons of other things) are illegal here in California! We mistakenly got a shipment recently though and we were all fascinated by them. They get the size of a man's hand and are extremely predatory. We fed the ones at the store the frozen bloodworms, live blackworms, and feeder guppies although I dont think they ate any of the guppies. You can feed them pretty much anything that will sink. Also, how big is your snail? It may become a meal for him too as he grows, so just keep an eye on them. Good luck, those little guys are so ugly that theyre cute! heartpump.gif

Exactly! So ugly they're cute! LOL My snail is getting pretty big actually. He's just about the size of a golf ball, not quite. He's growing really quick compared to what I had expected, maybe he'll outgrow Frog by the time he looks tasty to him? How fast do these frogs grow anyway? So I know what I'm in for lol.GIF

Oh, I need to get something to feed him with. I'm using a turkey baster but it doesn't get close enough to him when he's on the bottom. Plus it sucks up sooo much food, I know I'm over feeing. But at least the snail is also eating well, all the left overs! Where would I find a pipet or something similar?

Thanks, Erin

I have one that lives with my betta for now, he's about the size of a nickel. I had to have him cuz he was at nnnnnn, and he only had one eye. I felt bad for the little bugger so I brought him home and named him "willy". I think he's adorable, but I LOVE frogs. smile.gif

Errrika,
I've never really been a fan or frogs, snakes and the like. But he's pretty cool. I'm a little scared to clean the tank for fear that he'll jump for it. Then I have to try to catch him.... Rather try to avoid that. So since you have one, any pointers would be great! Thanks, Erin

I found a pipette inside an old chemistry kit. Sometimes they come with test kits, you just have to look. Other than that, if theres a college or university near you you may be able to find some for sale there.

Ok thanks, I'll have a look around. Maybe I can find something similar.
