I'm thinking about making a 40 gal glass tank. I found directions and stuff on Garf, but was wonding if anyone who has made their own tank before has any suggestions? Also approximately how much does it cost to make a tank at home? Is it a lot less than buying one already made or not?

I'm not positive, but if you factor in the cost of the glass and the cost of the time it takes to assemble and add in the risk of non-professional assembly, it's more cost-effective to buy a 40. You really only save money when you assemble large tanks, as the costs skyrocket for those big tanks. AND, in my opinion, the most cost effective tank out there is a 55 gallon, which you can find almost anywhere for 99.99 with tank, top, and light.
