Full Version: Big Job Ahead This Weekend

It is supposed to start getting really chilly at night next week so we are moving the remaining fish inside. I can't wait too long because the water will be to cold to wade in to catch the fish and take the plants out. The Koi are the worst to catch, they are so-oo fast. I've already got the small fish inside (Oranda's and Shubunkins).

Some of my hyacinths are already turning yellow due to the cool temps. I have them in miracle grow right now before I put them in the tanks downstairs. Miracle Grow does wonders for them.

Wish me luck!

Have fun catching those Kio! I had to pull mine all out this summer and was about to just leave the last one - everytime I caught him he would jump out of the net. My neighbors were all over to watch the show - it was pretty funny! rofl3.gif

It should be quite the show. Maybe I'll sell admission tickets. I have a coulple that jump too. The one Shubunkin actually jumped from the basement tank I had put him in into the one below it so only the smaller fish and snails will go in that one.

Last year it was cold getting the big plants out so I'm doing it early this year. Hopefully they all adjust to being indoors all right. The ones I have in right now have adjusted well. I'll let you know how it goes.

Good luck, Debi. I hope I can "winter" both the fish and plants outside. If it gets too cold I will just have to bring them back inside and into the aquariums they came from.

I feel for you on that one. It took me an hour to catch 10 goldies in only five inches of water (pond had been drained). My knees were killing me (my pond is semi raised) and I was soaked from them splashing me.

The first two were very easy as they are so tame. After they saw two of their buddies disappearing though, the others sort of wised up! Thud.gif
