Miranda the oranda must be full of eggs. She's getting pestered by all the males. This is the first time any of my fish have been ready for breeding, and I'm concerned. She's getting bullied around by 6 other boys all at the same time, biting her unmentionables, chasing her, banging into her. She gets sooooo tired and I feel badly and nervous that she may get hurt. I saw Frank bite her eye awhile ago. I put her in the breeder box for awhile to give her a break from them, and they all circled around it like a bunch of sharks. What should I do? I have since taken her out of the box and let her swim around the tank again. Should I let them continue to rough her up? Or should I mover her? Or what? Poor thing.......... men suck. wink.gif

Deeefinately, you might want to consider putting her and one of the boys in a tank alone, preferably the gentlest boy, and keep a breeder box, just in case... Men can be tricksy! rolleyes.gif

keep a really close eye on them. if it gets too much and shes getting hurt or tired, id take her out. its a pretty overwhelming ratio 6:1. you could hand spawn them i guess. just GENTLY squeeze and smooth down to their anus and you should see eggs/milt coming out. transfur them into the breeding box to do this. dont force the eggs out. it could kill the female if you squeeze her too hard. good luck with it. keep us posted!

I never knew what sex most of my fish were cuz they were all so young. Moby and Tang I've always known were boys, cuz they have very obvious breeding tubricles, but the rest of them matured enough this year that I have all boys and 2 girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh man...............
