Hey people whats up!?
I have a question. Is there a good way of killing the algea?
Is there any good and cheap chem. I can use and is there a natural way of getting rid of the algea without using chemical?

I've only just found the solution myself (having no brains and all!). I have a pond - not sure if you have a tank or a pond, but the best solution, simply the best, for pond fish is a biological filter with UV Clarifyer. I battled algae for years with chemicals and couldn't rid myself of it - a bio filter and clarifyer rid my pond of algae within a week or 2 and gave me crystal clear water within 4 weeks.

As I said, I have no brains and have just noticed what forum this query is in! (oops) Surely, surely, there are clarifyers for tanks as well??

What is a clarifyer?

My friend says that algea fix (a chemical) works wonders.... she used it once and it compleatly got rid of the algea... now she adds a few drops every few weeks 2 ensure it doesnt come back

Its a UV sterilizer, it uses ultra violet light to kill small stuff floating in the water such as algae and parasites. Usually it is attached to a canister filter. It works only for floating algae, thats the stuff that makes your water greenish color.

it takes 1 bubbernose pleco to clean all the algae in ur tank withint a week.

I have live plants in my tank. So, this might be a different solution. I turned off the lights and covered the tank for three days (Still feed the fishes). The plants survived the simulated black out, but the algae didn't. B)

I have live plants too. So I cn cover my tank and turn off the light and my plants won't die?
