Okay So I have a red Betta with blue scales on his sides and I was wondering if I could introduce any other type of fish in with him? I've heard they are compatible with White Cloud/ White Mountain Minnows, is this true? Also are there any algea eaters they are compatible with like butterfly pleco???

P. S. The bettas home is a flat faced 5 gallon aquarium bowl.

Also I have heard that the bettas don't need breathing crystals as they can breath in the air at the surface. Is this true?

P. S. I have read up on it and have decided to add 2-3 ghost shrimp with the betta.

Well bettas are really kewl fish because they can live in very small tanks and do not require a lot to keep them alive. To answer your question NO Bettas do NOT need an air supply in there tank, Although it is good to have one. And a filter is good to so that you do not have to change the water quite so offtan. I also see that you are going to put ghost shrimp in with him well be carful because the shrimp can hurt your bettas fins by pinching them with there little pinchers. I think that a betta should be left alone due to there aggressiveness. Also if you put other fish in with a betta they like to peck at the other fishes fins as well. Although all bettas are different. Some will be fine others are far too aggressive. So I hope that helps you out. I have a betta and went through a lot of what you are about to go through. I would say that the best thing to put with a betta would be an Africa Dwarf Frog. they are kewl and are easy to maintain as well!!!

LOL, I guess bettas really do vary, some info. I found elswhere said to be careful with ghost shrimp because the bettas may eat them and you're telling me nearly the complete opposite. lol.GIF
