it was like the size of the bottom of this letter(about) except thicker==>"i" maybe a teeny bit longer and wiggling wiggling wiggling YUCK!! :monkey as for the water I'm hoping to test it very soon. also I just bought some anti external/internal parasite tablets by Jungle it's called parasite clear tank buddies. it claimes to get rid of gill mites, body flukes, anchor worm, gill flukes, fish lice, and ragged tailfin(finrot I guess). I was just wondering if that would do any good. thanks

hi dory smile.gif

if the worm you saw was swimming in an "s" like wiggling motion, it is most likely a harmless nematode. these and many other worms that appear in aquariums are a sign of too much uneaten food and poop in the gravel. these guys like to wiggle around in the gravel for the most part. usually, we dont really see them until the gravel gets stirred up a bit for whatever reason. regularly vacuuming the gravel during waterchanges will greatly help keep these worms numbers at a minimum. wink.gif

hope this helps! smile.gif

eewwwww..that is gross!
-let us know if that tank buddies tablet works smile.gif

I will try the tablet, but if it is a nematode should I vacum my gravel more often? I am a bit over stocked(2 over the limit) and I usually change water every few days and vacum gravel once or twice a week. if I should be vacuming or changing water ect. more often please let me know because I want to keep my aquarium in the best possible condition. biggrin.gif thanks

dory,

please do not use the medication. you do not need to medicate for nematodes. you can wind up doing more harm than good. medications are usually pretty stressful on fish and should ONLY be used if your sure of what your dealing with.

regular waterchange/gravelvacs are the best way to control these "poo eating worms".
