Well i upgraded from a 27 gallon to a 55 gallon this weekend. wow alot bigger. But I had it running for a couple of days and now put my fish in it today. All my fish are in heaven with this tank now

congratulations on the new tank. tanks in the 40-60 gallon range are just ideal in my opinion. nicely large, but not too large. maintenance isn't much more than a 30gal. so much more to enjoy. congrats again.

Ok i just waneted someone opinion on filters. I have 2 aqua clear 300's in my 55 gallon tank this should be sufficient right?
DataGuru
I dunno on the filter question.

Did you move your filter, etc from the 27 to the 55?

Need to test the water daily for ammonia and nitrIte until both read 0ppm.

Yes i moved the filters from my 27 gallon. I had them both on the 27 and moved them to the 55. I have been testing my tank daily since ive had it up and running I just want to know if tw0 aqua clear 300's will be sufficiant

If the Aquaclear 300 means that it filters 300 gallons per hour, then you should have sufficiant filtration - that is enough for a 60 gallon tank.....10times per hour.

My 56 gallon tank required about 18-20 times an hour turnover for crystal clear water, but each tank is different - fish load, placement of intake tubes, circulation, shape, surface area, etc.....

If you find that the tank is not as clear as you want, add another filter. Make one intake tube much lower than another......vary it and play with it until you are satisfied.

Your tank sounds wonderful! biggrin.gif

So far on the aqua clear i have 1 intake at the bottom of the tank and the other one is half way up the tank. So far the water is crystal clear
