are there any types of plants i could buy that will take longer to be eaten by the goldfish, or any that the goldfish aren't terribly fond of? i've never kept live plants before, but i'd like to try them for the benefits they offer to the tank. i just can't afford to constantly replace them if my fish are going to munch on them.

I can't answer your question, but I bought my first live plant the other day and I am not sure what it is. They lady told me to just through it in and let it float around. I didn't go with the intentions of buying it, but she said my betta would hide in it if the bala's bothered him. Well I didn't like it floating around so I stuck it in the gravel and let me tell you in a weeks time this stuff has doubled. I here some plants are not good for gf, but my bala's don't seem to bother this plant, it is a feather like plant and it's tips are a lighter green than the rest of the plant. I really like it and am thinking of getting more live plants. I would gladly share but no one is close to me and I think shipping would cost more than the plant - it was very cheap.
