I have a Betta in a small bowl in the house, I am getting sick of changing
the water every 5-6 days  , would it survive in a fresh water pond with Goldfish
and Koi.

no it wouldnt. the water would be too cold and it would have its fins nipped by the other fish or get swallowed whole depending how big the others are. ideally you should change the water of all your fish every 7 days so it shouldnt make too much of a difference anyway. how many gallons would you say this bowl is?

Well, I went to a pet store in Hillsborough,NJ, and I was told by a "fish expert" that bettas can live together with guppies pretty peacefull. So,if you want, you can get some guppies and a new tank and put them in together.

some of these 'experts' really have no clue what they are talking about though so i wouldnt listen to everything they say. also, male bettas really hate anything more colourful than them and will fight to the death with anything they see as being prettier than he, eg. guppies. females are ok with guppies though. males are best left on their own.

Though if you truly want to get guppies and your betta to live together peacefully, I would suggest either getting dull colored male guppies or just all females. This has been known to work, in rare occasions even brilliantly colored male guppies can live peacable with male bettas but very rarely, it really depends on the temperament of your betta.

simple question no, guppies and bettas are a big no no i tested
it out with my 2 bettas and they looked dead after day 2, they lost
most of there colors and whould just let them slefs drift away the coloration and long fins (on male guppies) isn't so good, plus they are very fast "perky" fish ...
If you want to be a good fish keeper(im not saying your not by the way but the situation is simple),go out and get a 2 to 3 gallon tank.
You could get one for like 5$ at wallmart,it would only be fair to do so.
And also allmost all the fish your going to get your self into your will have to clean the tank every week so that waste, Ammonia doesn't build but and irrate and kill your fish.

Bettas can be very agressive. If you put one in your tropical fish tank, be sure there's plenty of other fish in there, so that the Betta would not be able to pick and stalk one poor fish. We put a Betta one time in the same tank with a Dwarf African frog and the Betta wouldn't leave it alone. Then we tried to put a Betta in the same tank with Gouramis, the same thing, even though a Gourami is bigger in size. But then when we started cycling an 80g with some feeder Goldfish and let the Betta swim in it, every time he tried to chase after one fish, he'd lose track of it because there were other fish in the same tank.
The reason why your Betta won't do well outside in a pond is because they are tropical fish and prefer warmer water.

i would be more afraid of the betta getting stressed from all
the fish.

hey, i was just thinking, would a female betta be ok with placid fancies? there are fish way smaller than them in with them and they do fine. would that work??

why don't you get a 2 gal. set up it will come with everything you need and you will not have to change tihe water as much.that is what I have mine in and he loves it. He says hello to me every moring and comes to the top of his tank when I shake his food. you might find that this is better for your fish to. He will look healthy and may even be more active. oh and the price on that tank is only $19.95 at nnnnnn.
