I like the Tetra test kits because they are easy to use and easy to read. The best thing about them is that they have rectangular vials. It is very hard to read colors out of a cylindrical vial because light enters at different angles and distorts the colors. With the Tetra test kit vial, you just put it on top of the color card and compare.

i second the Tetra test kit.

What kind of Hagen test kit do you have, Alex?

I use Hagen’s MASTER TEST KIT for Fresh Water. It will do complete tests of pH, Ammonia, Carbon and General Hardness of your water, and Nitrites - it costs around 20$ ?

I also have the Hagen ammonia and ph kit, and it works fine with me. I think what Alex bothers is that with ammonia there is a chart with ammonia combined with the pH on it, and after a certain pH the ammonia turns more toxic. That chart can be confusing at first, but I got used to it...smile.gif
