wait... are you trying to cycle a tank or does it have inhabitants at the moment and you haven't tested the ammonia in a long time?

Fishbuddy, glad to hear you have the test for ammonia, make sure and test every day. You'll want to keep track so Ketzel will be ok.
Gosh with ammonia that high, make sure to do a water change everyday. You may even want to put Ammo-lock in your tank to bind up that ammonia and make it non toxic.
Good luck

Eack! Are there fish in there? I hope not...if there are, you've got some hardy fish, so get them all squared away and then we'll be right.

A nitrite test is also as important as an ammonia test - if you can swing it, I think that that would be a truly invaluable addition to your test kit. Nitrite is more toxic than ammonia!

Fishbuddy,
Daryl is right, you should have the following in order to do this right.
1. Test kits for Ammonia, nitrItes, nitrAtes, PH.
2. Water conditioner.
3. Ammo-lock (to bind up ammonia).
4. Aquarium salt. (you'll need this when the nitrites get high).
If anybody can think of any thing else please add it.

I have the Stripe testes for nitrite, nitrate and pH. Now I have Ammonia test too (its the liquid one) And I have water conditioner/and Stress Coat and I just got MORE Aquarium Salt.
Nw that I am thinkign about it..it'd probably would have been better to have just investedin the all in one (all the tests for fresh water) kit at the pet Store...cause thoughs stripes arent going to last much longer...

Yeah the drop tests go alot further. They also seem to be more accurate. That's ok, when you run out you can get the all in one.
I love that kit, I have it. It makes every thing simple.

I always use bottles of liquid and viles and that's how I test for my levels. I use Hagen’s MASTER TEST KIT for Fresh Water. It does complete tests of pH, Ammonia, Carbon and General Hardness of your water, and Nitrites.
