Okay, recieved my rena, I love it, except LOL.

Everything works fine, but there is this HIGH puitched whining sound; I cannot figure out what it is. I've checked all the clamps- with pliers. I can't hear is nearly as much when I duck my head into the..compartment...in the stand where the actual canister is. I think it *may* be the outlet- I have the spray bar on. Could that cause it? or something in that area? I don't think it's the machinery, I'm pretty sure it is the out or inlet parts. So...anyone experienced this?

hmmm. so, would you say that the source of the sound is not from the canister? does the spray bar by chance have a small leak allowing air to get sucked into it and out of the outlets? are you familiar with the venturi effect? basically, pumping water through a tube with a small hole in it will cause the water pressure to "draw" air into it and cause a whining/sucking sound. its a possibility.

have you tried to re-position the spray bar at all?

sorry im not much help, just throwing ideas at you. huh.gif

An easy way to tell if its the spray bar is to remove it, and see if it still makes the same noise smile.gif I have two rena canister filters, I've never heard a high pitch noise before with it.

It was the spraybar! It was like, 6:30 am when i posted; didn't want to mess with it and leave it all day- I waited till tonight wo I could be here and make sure it was running good after playing with it LOL. AAACK this makes me sad, I LOVE the spraybar. I guess it has a loose fitting or something, not sure what else could cause it- like you expalined, toothless.

Thanks SO MUCH for your help, guys!
