I am thinking Rena Filstar xP3 + AquaClear300...

You think it will be ok with that?

It really depends on your budget. Personally for canister filters I prefer rena xp stuff better than fluvals. I hear eheim filters are the best, but they are by far much more pricey (at least in my local area).

For a little bit extra, I think getitng a penguin or emperor filter is worthwhile over an aquaclear. I Like the wheels and the mechanical filtration emperors give over aquaclears with that sponge.

i agree with the posts above. having two filters is ideal. you want to move the water a minimum of 10 times through the filters per hour. i have an emperor 280, which at first bothered me but either it has become quieter or i've adjusted to the hum. i also had a fluval 304, which in my opinion was not doing the job. i replaced it with a eheim 2026. this is considered the cadillac of filters. what would i recommend? my setup of course.
