I was looking around for a filter for my new tank. I read the description of what Koko has and I found one at PetCo by Marineland. It's called the Hot Magnum cannister filter - it hangs on the outside of the tank and has a biowheel too - and a plug in gravel vacuum. Costs $80 - has anyone tried this? I think it is a wet/dry filtration system. This filter looks like the Cadillac model.

This is what your talking about right?

This filter works but not as good as a Fluval or Eheim.

The Fluval and Eheim have compartments in the canister, for things like carbon, floss, ammonia chips and so on. This filter your talking about is like a jumbo version of a hang on the back filter. Don't get me wrong its a good filter but if your looking for a canister filter the Fluval or Eheim is the best on the market biggrin.gif

Thanks Koko!

if you are considering a HOT filter, look at the Emperor line. The little one moves 280gals/hr which is plenty for a double filter tank setup. if you want extra filtration, then go with the 400. this boy is a monster of a filter and could possibly make it a single filter tank. not that i suggest that.

I currently am running Fluvals. I do not like their priming device so will be changing out to Eheims. I have a 2026 on order. If you are in the market for a Fluval 304, I'll give you a great price.
