Hello everyone. Hope everyone's fishes are having a good summer. Well, I finally received my UVC and guess what, IT WAS BROKE. I have waited almost three weeks for the thing, and now I have to wait again. Patience.....

I have a new question: Last night, I cleaned my filter out, and after that, the waterfall is producing bubbles, and a white bubblely foam is on the top of the pond.
I have never seen this. It looks like someone threw liquid soap in the pond.

My fish seem to be fine, no one is gasping for air. Anyone know what causes this?

Have a great weekend. Blondie wav.gif

If the bubbles are not popping right away it is a water problem. Stick your finger in the water and swirl it around quickly if that makes bubbles and they don't pop right away then your water is out of wack. Here is a link to a page that should help you. http://www.aquariumfish.net/information/cl..._water.htm#top2

Thanks Bigjk, I think I haven't been changing the water as much as I should. The water was so clear I thought I was good to go. Let you know how I made out.
This morning, I still have a white foam over the pond. Wish me luck. Blondie wav.gif

My guess is that you lost a lot of active biomass when you cleaned the filter... suddenly there was more organic matter available to suspended microorganisms and they are temporarily thriving. Some bacteria cause foaming. The foam should disappear when the filter recovers.

Hello Everyone - The bubbles have gone away. I finally got the UVC and the water is pretty clear in the pond. I haven't had too much trouble since the bubble matter cleared up. King, my biggest goldfish, is really getting bigger. When I feed them in the morning, all five of the fish rush to get fed. I love this.

I know it's early to start thinking about the winter, but I have never gotten a pond ready for the winter. Is there any sort of procedures I should follow? Like a step to step thing? I know you have to keep a hole for the ice... How exactly is that done? I read somewhere that you can put a net over the pond to protect leaves
from going into the water. How do you feed the fish if it's all closed up?

Hope everyone is enjoying their goldfishes. I know I am. Blondie rolleyes.gif
