I got up last night and went to the kitchen. On the way back I almost had a heart attack when I looked in my guppy tank. ALL SIX were lined up in a row on the bottom of the tank. They had propped themselves up each on a rock. They were resting on their fins. I was sure they were all dead. I have never seen fish do this. I got up this morning expecting to see all of them dead but they were merrily chasing each other around the tank. Is this NORMAL for fish to rest on the bottom of the tank?????????

most likely your fish were tired so they lied dormant (i believe that is what you call it) this is their way of "sleeping"

My fish do this too, I'm pretty sure it's the way they "sleep"

My Jack Dempsey, Male Betta, Platy, and Cories "sleep" like that. My Female Betta is really old and floats on her side like she died of dropsy, but when I walk up to the tank she swims right side up just fine! None of my feeder goldfish ever slept while they were in a QT tank, I've heard that goldies don't sleep much. I've never seen my Danios sleep before. I used to have a guppy, and he slept like that until I got a Crayfish. The Crayfish got a few nips at him and he started to sleep on top of the decorations. But he must have changed his mind and wanted the gravel bed for a bed. He was gone one morning and the Crayfish moulted the next!

I had one tank where one goldie slept on the bottom with two
just above him and one in each corner about mid tank level.

Just depends on what they prefer...
