On Friday I put my bigger blue into my main tank. He has a small amount of shell damage where a crayfish tried to eat him at the LPS but hes been growing like crazy and is super healthy. Then I noticed he stopped coming out of his shell so I took him out yesterday and put him in a 5 gallon betta tank. He finally came out and stuck to the glass and I noticed a little more than 1/4 of his foot is gone, right where he has the shell damage(Ill post pics when I get my camera back). sad.gif So I put him in the snail tank and he is looking great, eating and crawling around like normal. His foot will regenerate wont it?
Thanks,
Nykole

Hmm there is some thing you need to buy to add to the tank could be called Melafix{ Airwin do you remember it} we dont seem to have it in the UK but I have heard a lot of US people being given the advice to use it after a injury..the only thing I can think of is keep him away from any fish and other animals that will keep nipping at him..yes he will mend in time given the right care and good water..ohh yes I think if I were you I would add some Kents liquid calcium and iodine to your tank water which is good for the snail shells and repair..I hope all goes well and he is soon on the way to a full recovery..Linda

It sounds farmiliar (I can't spell today) but there was a saga a while back about a loach that bored a hole through the door and into the middle of the foot and the snail recovered... so good luck.

Not all loaches will eat snails. Most will, however kuhli loaches have been known to coexist peacefully with snails.

Thanks guys smile.gif

This Dojo has coexisted with snails the entire time Ive had him(nearly a year) and never had any problems. Im just assuming he took advantage of the hole in the snails shell. <_< Blue, the snail, came fully out today and its definitely more than a 1/4 of his foot missing, more like nearly a half. It divided down the middle just about. I added a little BettaFix(its diluted Melafix) and hes doing fine so far.
Thanks again,
