Hi Everyone-
I have a pair of beautiful Crown Tail Bettas. I have had them in seperate tanks since I have had them for about one month. I found a tank yesterday that is 10 gallons and has a screen in the middle. The male has lost his mind showing off for the female and is flaring like crazy.

The femal, in a matter of hours is showing vertical stripes and is ready to spawn!

I am not quite ready to breeed them.
Will it hurt to keep them in this split tank where they can see each other until I am ready to breed them?
Thanks everyone!

They will eventually get board of each other,

which wont help you breed them when you want to

i am no expert on bettas but i heard that if you have a divider where they can see each other it causes a lot of stress on them because they are in constant fear that the other betta will come over and attack them.

I have had male and female bettas together in a tank, the males in those hang-in screen deviders that holds up to 5 bettas, and the females swimming freely about in the 10 gl tank. After a while, they stopped flaring, and were quite content.

Thanks gang! They are doing so much better now but he is still half psycho showing off for her. I would send a picture but I don't have 100 post yet

I have a male Betta in the same tank as a female and they get on fine. No flaring or carrying on at all. I think I have strange Bettas as they never seem to act like they should.

Hi Shelly-
You do have strange bettas. LOL...I get these two near each other and they both go crazy!

Well most breeders actually do this so that the male betta
gets intrested after awhile he won't even notice her.
And if your scared of him getting stressed out flareing try to block the
view to the other side of the aquarium with plants ....

My betta divider has the clear one and a blue one that you can attach to it. It makes it good for breeding because you can just have the clear one and then when they are both ready breed you can put the blue part on because "absence makes the heart grow fonder". Then you can take them both off and they will be very exited to see each other, and you know what happens next...

Blocking it with plants is a really good idea! Thank you!

Dreama,
Do you know what brand your divider is so I can look for one?
Thanks,

Jeanne--- Sorry I have no clue, but I got it from nnnnnn. It was with one of those betta containers that are "big enough" for two bettas, but they really aren't. Um...I'm sure you could find one somewhere else big enough for your tank, but if not the plant idea sounds great!! ---Sorry if I was not much help.

Oh, by the way, I keep the divider off and keep a small female in it. (I didn't want anyone to think I was keeping them in such a small space) ~BYE
