It's been a very long time since I had live plants in the tank. I just got some banana plants on e-bay and I don't remember how to treat them before adding them to my Goldies. I don't want to introduce any parasites. Anybody have some advice?

I typically just wash mine if I get them from the pet store. However if you are getting them from a more dubious source, with the potential for eggs or parasites, I heard that you can use potassium permanganate to sterilize them. From a quick search I found on the web:
"1 tsp Potassium Permanage in 1.33 gallons ought to make a
good 30 sec dunking solution for plants or ornaments. Alum (Aluminum
Sulfate) is supposed to be very good at removing snails from plants, but
I don't know the dosage. Try 1 tsp/gallon. Potassium Chromate and
Silver nitrate have also been used as disinfectants, though I would avoid
them."

Although I have NOT done this myself, but this should help. Be warned some plants like Valisneria, are sensitive to it
