my new baby has come down with ich. surprise surprise...i knew something or other would pop up. right now there are only a couple little spots, but at least i know it's most definitely ich.
i just used some stuff called rid ich to treat my tank.
is there a better ich product i should be trying? or will this be ok?

oh awesome! that makes me feel much better. at least i had something on hand this time, it's too late to run to the store. and thankfully, this is much less a concern than the last fight i had with fungus. i think this should clear up ok without killing my fishie...

Does Rid Ich mess up your cycle? I have some stuff here that I used a while back (Ick Clear) and it cleared up the Ich in no time at all, like a day or two, but totally destroyed the tank cycle.

Remove all the carbon out of your tank and
follow directions(for smaller fish use a smaller dose). Turn
off the tank lights and cover the tank with a towel. Yes, turn
up the heater to around 80*f. Every 3rd day syphon the bottom
for eggs. Leave everyone in the tank and treat them all. Use of
aquarium salt? varies from person to person.

just wondering pm...why cover with a towel? is that to reduce stress in the fish?

fromwhat all i have read, all the medicines with malechite green are pretty similar, the chemical strength, and concentraions, so i dont think it makes a difference which brand you use.
