Could anyone tell me what this spot is a sign of please?

Cheers!

YOu mean the white spot on his tail fin? Its a bit hard to see, and we need a few more details, like the info in the red box on top of the page. But a guess would be some sort of fungus maybe. Does any of your other fish have spots as well?

Hi sorry for the lack of detail in the first post, was a bit tired last night.

Murnaghan's test results are:
Ammonia: 0
NitrAte: 60
Nitrite: 4
pH: 8.6 Not sure on pH, possibly 8.2?
Tank size: 35 gal
Filtration: Fluval 1+ pump, on 24/7
Last water change: about a week today, about 30%.
Food: Little grains of something - came with the first fish I had. Soon changing to Nutrafin Goldfish Flake Food.

NitrAtes are slowly decreasing, but Nitrites have shot up from 0 when I last tested on the 20th June 2004 (have been busy with exams and work and not had much time at home).

I don't have any other fish in the tank, but I do have two loaches who appear to be fine and free from the spots. It appears there is a very small spot on the bottom of his tail fin too now, the top fin spot has stayed about the same size.

I'm wondering if he isn't very comfortable in the tank - he tares round and round with the loaches, like he is chasing another fish that isn't there. He has done this since I got him.

He also swims against the glass a lot as if he is trying to escape!

Cheers
