I here alot of talk about peoples bettas "Pineconing" what does that mean?? can someone please explain that to me? or show a picture what it looks like?
Jeanne
Dropsy is a symptom of an internal bacterial infection. Dropsy is also called pineconing because of the odd shape it gives the fish. Since this disease is internal, external meds such as the Maracyn-2 are of very little use.

I'm not sure, but I think the term pinconing is when the scales start sticking out from the body. If you can picture a pine cone, the "branches" are sticking out from the body. The don't lay smooth like scales are suppose to.
Did that help?
