My orange fantail has faded out to a nasty looking white! It ain't pretty. It doesn't look like this is supposed to happen. I realize that fish turn color naturally, but this time it doesn't look natural at all. He's almost see through. He isn't turning the pretty white of my Oranda's. I'm very scared for him.

He is the first fish I got and he's still young (less than 2 inches without tails). My little "Finn" (ya.. i know.. very original...) seems to be acting ok, but... I'm very worried.

I'm wondering if is could be the light or what other reasons could it be? Could it be the water? Please let me know if you know what might cause this (if it isn't just a natural thing.. and I really don't think it is....) I'm runniing to the store to get a nitrate test and something to bring the PH down a bit.. any ideas other than that.

He used to be in a different tank in a different room and it had a regular incandescant light. The 10 gallon he's in now has a florescent. Should I switch to a special full spectrum light? would that help?

HI.I dont know if finn is sick, but my little Peewee [tiny moor], has been going through the same ordeal, although he is not turning transparent. he was all black , and now he is a pale orange, with only black lips. He's so ugly he's cute. All of my water parameters are great, and noone is sick or acting funny. They say some time goldfish just turn colors, be it from age , or from the food. There is a certain kind of flake that has an ingriedient that will change the color. I can't remember the name, but it is on one of theseposts on this site .maybe some of these thoughts may be helpful. yeah.gif
