Oh goldfish gurus, please impart to me some of your infinite knowledge! lol.GIF Will a penguin 170 and an aquaclear 200 be enough for a 33 gal?

Generally the names of the filters give you a clue as to how many gallons per hour they can process. A 170 therefore will pump 170 gallons of water through itself every hour, just as a 200 will do 200gallons per hour. Add these together, you get 370 gallons per hour being filtered.

The rule of thumb is 10 times turn over of your tank water every hour at the minimum. For a 33 gallon tank this is 330 gph minimum. You should be fine with the 370, unless for some reason you have a very large fish load in the tank.

Having two filters is great - for now you can change the media in them at different times and never upset your bio-filter!!!! smile.gif
