My test kit says that my water is hard - is this OK for my comet goldfish or do I need to use an additive?

I have a comet in a 10 gallon (soon gonna move up to 30 gal) and my water hardness is above 300. he doesn't seem to mind it much, it's mostly the ph, ammonia, and nitrite that effect him (that is if there's a spike or something), so my guess would be he should be fine. If the other chemicals in the tank are fine and everything seems to be okay but he acts wierd, then i might want to get some water softener for him.
Love,
~wonder~
p.s. i live in arizona so my water is unbelievibly hard.

My water is also very hard... Like liquid rock. (KH 17d GH 340) My goldfish don't seem to mind this a bit. They're all fat and happy and they've been living in this water for a year and a half.
Stability is the key. Don't mess with your water unless it's absolutely necessary.
