Ok , thanks folks for the tank problems i had, but now two of my fish have a black mark, one on its gill and the other on its fin, im totally baffled as i cant find any research on this, can it just be a bruise as they have taken to fighting with each other? i would say the tank is big enough for them as they are only small, can any one help me? and does it get any better keeping gold fish, it seems more trouble than its worth right now!
cheers sue

Have you checked the water parameters (pH, ammonia, etc)???

Hi, sorry to hear you are having probs again.
What type of goldies do you have together? How big are they as well.
Sometimes black spots can be ammonia burns healing. First thing I would do is as Kingyo suggested test those water parms.

if your fish are fighting, find a way to seperate them for a little while, ie tank divider, put one in the quarentine tank...

If your fish are fighting too roughy you would see torn fins, missing scales or eyes and possibly bloody injuries. Or your fish would be totally worn out and tired.
Those black marks may be ammonia burns healing or both your fish could be developing their colours.
If your tank is new and your fish are young then 99% the marks are ammonia burns.
Keep and eye on the water readings in your tank, ie. ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, pH. If you don't have test kits take a sample of tank water to your lfs who usually test it for you for free.
While your tank is new or if you are having problems it is a good idea to do 20% water changes every second day.
Good Luck, Annette
