As some may know, Queen my female betta, has been in somewhat of a 'quarantine' tank for a week. Since i only have a heater in my 40-gallon (which is home to my 2 Moors and a small common) i didnt want to take the risk of her ripping my goldies to shreds and kept her in a small 'kritter keeper', which floated in the goldie tank, to compensate the lack of a heater. I was worried at first that because the temporary tank was so small the ammonia and other factors would be too much for her, so i did daily water changes and inspections for diesease/illness ect. Now, a week later, when i watch them i can see Queen follows the common around wherever he goes...but she never flares at any of them! It was so cute that i just couldnt help but laugh, and thinking it over carefully i took out her kritter keeper, got the net ready just in case, scooped her up with my hand and placed her in wih the goldies. At first she went to the cornner and swam up then down kinda like 'hey! where the heck am i?' Then slowly one by one the Moors came over and followed her, then the common. When she sees them comming it looked like she was almost wagging her little fishie tail (but like my boxer puppies who have those short tails, her whole fishie butt was wagging!!!) Now she is living happily amungst both Moors and the common! She's doing absolutely outstanding, no tail nipping and/or bitting, no chasing/harassing, just being buddy buddy with them. It's too cute. She thinks she's a goldie now!
I have a male also, Royal, Queen thinks hes a big pushover though...she flares like crazy at him when he flares at her goldie friends. (Royal's tank is up next to the goldie's) Geez, if i wasnt going away tommorow i would post a bunch of pictures for you all. Oh well, when i get back...
It's one of those 'you gotta see it to believe it' things.
