hi,
my name is shark lover 'cause i have one of those too but my passion is betta's and i recently was attempting to breed my betta's and it went well everything happened like it was supposed to but when i seperated the male and female after a few days i noticed he really needed to be cleaned, it looked like he was slimmy or something, so i cleaned his water and tank and i have been doing that about every other day well, his whole top fin is completely gone. there are bits of bones sticking out and it just hurts me everyday to see him like his and i dont knwo what is wrong it looks like it just fell off or something was eating at it , but he is in a bowl by himself any tips would be really appreciated sad.gif

thanks for answering, i have him in about a gallon container to a gallon and a half, it's filtered, i feed him just regualr betta pellets they are designed to enhance the color of your fish, i can't quite remember the name of it. i change his water about twice a week i was doing it about once a week to a week and a half just because i have a filter it stays cleaner longer and i had never had this problem before. it really makes me sad he's such a beautiful fish i can't stand to see him this way, he's obviously in pain but he still moves around really well, he eats, not as much but about two pellets twice a day. one thing is that he does seem a little more skittish than usual and i dont knwo if that has anything to do with it or not, what should i do, i have tried putting salt in his water for the last two changes but i dont know if it's working. help and advice would really be appreciated!

if its not getting worse then its working . continue with the salt and water changes and turn the filter off on your tank the current from it will stress them out in such a small tank itll hinder his recovery. also if you could heat the tank some how that wouls help as well i know its realy hard to in a small tank. but if you got a 5 gallon or more your betta would be able to be heated witch will boost his amune system and the current from the fliter will not stress him out as much.

thank you soo much i dont think it has gotten worse but then again i dont really know i guess. he's still eating good and everything and i think i can see his fin growing back, but i was wondering how long it would take for the fin to grow back and if it would look the same as it used to, because i had a friend who has a betta and she said her's got into a fight with other fish she had it with and when the fin grew back it was a totally different color than what it used to be, and i really dont want that to happen with my guy. he's so beautiful when he isn't sick, he has velvety midnight blue fins and a dark blue body that when there is light on it is irridecent green and red. it's awesome. i just want him back to normal! cry3.gif

Hi there,

I just wanted to let you know that i read your post, I really hope you betta is better soon.. anyways the reason for my post, you said that you feed your beyya pellet food, that makes his color better? I too feed my betta the same stuff.. or something like it called " aqua culture - betta food" - could that be the name you were looking for?
sharklover
hi everyone-
thanks for all the support and suggestions, i was just wondering, he does show all the signs of being happy, he does eat he moves around a lot and he is forming a bubble nest and all that so do you think that there is a good chance that hewill get better?
