Can anyone tell me if females can flair? If they can what does it mean if they do it to a male? huh.gif

Yes, females can flare, and do. It's just the individual temperment of the fish, some females will never flare, others love to. I have a male that almost never flares and one who spends half the day flaring.

If a female is flaring at a male, it just means she's not in a mating mood atm. I hope you don't mean you have them in a tank together though. Except in closely monitored breeding situations its just not good practice to keep male and female bettas together. Once in a while someone succeeds at it, but it much more commonly results in the death of one or both fish.

I have several females and yes they flair. Some of my girls are even wilder than my boys when it comes to attacking through the glass at each other. Plus they are bigger pigs when it comes to eating.
