wav.gif I've just joined this website and from what I've seen in the past couple of days is really organized and extremely helpful. I just have a few questions that I hope you guys can help me out with.

I just bought a 36G tank and I was wondering how many fancy goldfish would be a comfortable number for it. I love Black Moors (hence my name) smile.gif

Also, I wanted to get an Apple snail, or two, however, at my local pet shop, they only have tons of mystery snails. Will they do the same thing/are they similar or are they completely different? Someone also recommended Ghost shrimp, but then I read on another website that the goldfish eat them. I'm a little confused because of the many different 'theories' out there.

your tank size will do for 3 fancies, but your commons take aleast 20 gal each. what kind of filtration you gonna use have to be careful if your tank isn,t cycled. i,ll let someone else give you some advice how to get started but iy,s great to have you inthe hobby and you started out with a good size tank thats a good thing

hope you enjoy your stay here..

Snails can multiply quickly and massively.. but I have never had experience with apple snails.. you may want to check in the snail section for we have people who are very experience with snails..

Yep, Goldfishes do eat ghost shrimp.. and if shrimp is too big, fishes might get choke on them or even get hurt from the spikes on shrimps body..

cheers

hmmm well any ways welcome to koko's biggrin.gif, well for a 36 gallon
i would only put 2 black moors well this is my opinion some people
will not agree with me but the more room the better?
the 10 gallon per fancy goldfish rule is only the minimum like i said more room is always better.
good luck with the moors Ginny! spit.gif

Hi and welcome to Kokos,

With good filtration the most I would put in are 3 fancy goldfish. Like Black oranda said with only two you will have more room. 2 fish will give you about 18 gallons of water per fish and 3 will give you only 12 gallons of water per fish. The more room they have the bigger they will grow and the greater the chance for them to have a long life will be. Hope this helps. smile.gif
