yesterday I bought an apple snail to put in with my betta in the 5 gallon, but then I read a bit on how much waste they have so I moved him into the 10 gallon.. here's a photo of him with my comet Paul who is about 2 inches: snails name is Hoover smile.gif

I can't believe how fast he moves! anyway, my question is, (and this is a dumb question) if he goes around on all the plants, and the petrified wood, and the glass, won't he eat the good bacteria that is not in the filter? and won't that break the cycle? (told you it was a dumb question but I've never owned a snail before)

What a gorgeous snail! I don't think so, they say snails are beneficial to the process. To be positive it doesn't happen, plop a carrot in for him to eat.
